Artist's Comments

A shaman wolf calls for power from the great spirits, using his magical quartz fragment, cupped within his paw, as a medium. After months of art block I finally found inspiration, not on a fresh sheet of paper, but in an old friend. I finally colored the sketch of my beloved character Sage, though not traditionally as planned, I think it turned out all right. As far as I've used it, I haven’t seen much a difference in the new Photoshop CS2. I don’t really need the critiquing on this one. I worked hard on this thing and as far as I’m concerned, it’s fine the way it is, with all of its flaws. I don’t mind em. ;) But hey if somethings bugging you, fire away.

Time - Roughly 4 Hours

imho it'd be better if his foot were actually resting on something... but i guess that'd take away from the simplicity of the piece

^^ Thankyou. Yeah, I really wasn't in the mood for going all out on this one. I do like things simple now and again and I wanted to get a more mystical feel; not too real. Plus, it was fun.

It's great to see another piece by you AW! Not to mention the finally coloured version of this - which I was looking forward to =)
It looks ace! The colouring job you've done gives it a very nice effect. Simple shading, great work on the fur and the material of the cloak. It looks great =)
One wee thing that confused me was his paw 'holding' the crystal. It sort of confused me which finger was which, but I figured it out soon enough :P And don't worry about that - I never get hands right :XD:

^^ Hehe thanks WW. Yeah it’s a slightly older piece, so it’s got a few idiosyncrasies. I understand about the hand, it happened to me too. x.x Ya know I think I’m gonna go back and do a little more work on the paws. I have time, and well it was fun. We'll see what comes of it.
